FAQ
Q. what is pilates?
A. Pilates is a full-body conditioning program developed by Joseph and Clara Pilates to strengthen the core musculature and lengthen the body. This dual emphasis leads to a longer, leaner, more flexible, better toned, and more evenly developed physique. The Pilates equipment employs spring-based resistance to create muscular strength and tone without building bulk. The focus on breath and properly performed movements leads to improved posture and overall physical balance.
Q. what will ellie herman pilates do for me?
A. The trainers at Ellie Herman Pilates are experts in helping you balance your body, building strength where you are weak, flexibility where you are tight, and stability in your core musculature. A consistent program (2-3 sessions per week) will significantly improve posture and alignment, enhancing stamina, coordination, strength and flexibility.
Q. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR ME TO SEE RESULTS?
A. Joseph Pilates once famously said, "In ten sessions you'll feel the difference, in twenty you'll see the difference, and in thirty you'll have a whole new body." Everyone is different, but most clients start to notice positive changes relatively quickly. Your dedication to a consistent practice will greatly determine how quickly you advance.
Q. Do I need to show up early?
A. If this is your first time at the studio, we’ll ask you to fill out a short intake form and store your personal belongings before your private session or class starts. Plan on arriving about five minutes early.
Q. What if I’m running late?
A. You have a 5-minute window from the start time of the scheduled class to keep your reserved spot. Students who arrive more than 5 minutes after a class begins may not be permitted to participate in the class and will be charged for the session in full. If you’re running late for a private session, give us a call at the studio and we’ll let your trainer know you’re dying to do The Fives the moment you arrive.
Q. what do i wear?
A. Clothing that allows a full range of motion is ideal. Leggings, yoga pants, or bike shorts, paired with a comfortable top work best. Shoes are not permitted in the studios. Please feel free to wear socks or work out in bare feet if you prefer. We award bonus points for Jane Fonda leotards.
Q. how do i cancel?
A. Reservations can be canceled online through your Mindbody account or by calling the studio. Cancelations for private sessions made with less than 24 hours notice will be subject to a full charge for the appointment or class; 12 hours for classes.
