Anna began her career in movement when she entered the dance program at Marymount Manhattan College of Liberal Arts on New York City's Upper East Side. There she trained in both ballet and modern dance with a strong focus in the Martha Graham technique. After completing her BFA in Dance, she was introduced to the Kane School of Core Integration. It was there that she discovered Pilates as an aid to better understanding movement in dance and everyday life. When Ellie Herman decided to move her business to the East Coast, Anna was part of the first teacher training program.
MASTER TRAINER - Originally from Virginia, Jeanie Clay was introduced to Pilates through her dance instructors. She was drawn to the increased strength, the overall sense of well-being, and the remarkable improvement Pilates made to her dance technique. She began her movement career as a professional dancer and teacher at an early age and decided to pursue a BFA in Dance at Redford University, under the guidance of Inessa Plekhanova. After completing her degree, Jeanie went on to dance professionally and pursue choreography in Denver, CO. She transitioned to NYC in 2008 to continue along this path. She received her Pilates certification from Ellie Herman. Jeanie is currently teaching full-time at Ellie Herman Pilates.
MASTER TRAINER - Kesa Huey is a Pilates teacher, dancer, and mom who lives and works in Brooklyn. She has been practicing Pilates for over twenty years. Looking for ways to stay healthy and strong, whether as a performer or a parent, she always winds around to more Pilates. Kesa first trained with Gail Anderson at Balance Within Pilates outside Seattle, then with Rachel Tudor (BASI). After moving to New York, she furthered her Pilates studies with Pamela Pietro, Lana Halvorsen, and Ellie Herman. Kesa is certified by Ellie Herman, and currently teaches at her studios as a Master Trainer.
MASTER TRAINER - Patricia Maples is a Pilates and yoga instructor, massage therapist, and classically-trained chef. She began teaching in 2003 in Charleston, South Carolina, and received her full Pilates certification through Ellie Herman after moving to NYC. Patricia is also an ERYT-200 certified yoga teacher with the Yoga Alliance. She has extensive training in functional and alignment-based movement, as well as in yoga and Pilates for back care and scoliosis. Her primary influences include Irene Dowd, Paul Grilley, and Deborah Wolk. Patricia is currently finishing her Masters Degree in Nutrition Sciences at Brooklyn College and pursuing her Registered Dietitian credential.
MASTER TRAINER - Tracie Matthews, a native New Yorker, became a Pilates Instructor after a successful career in television production. She loves incorporating movement, somatic and dance concepts into her Pilates work. Tracie uses her keen observational skills to guide, inspire and challenge her clients, whether she is working with actors, dancers, and other professional movers; with clients in post-rehab; with prenatal and postnatal women; or new clients. Her philosophy of aging well through Pilates training makes her a valued instructor with her senior clientele.
Tracie is a certified Pilates Instructor and a certified Movement Educator in New York City. Her professional training includes PhysicalMind Institute, kinesthetic anatomy with Irene Dowd, Dynamic Embodiment with Dr. Martha Eddy, and numerous professional continuing education courses with the PMA, ACE, Pilates Style, Body Mind Dancing, and others. Tracie strives to craft a personalized, high-quality movement experience for each client, helping them realize their health, fitness, and postural goals.
MASTER TRAINER - Freddie Pearson is a movement artist focused on the function and form of the human being, motor performance, and control. Earning his BFA in Dance from New York University, Freddie has also studied under Pilates Elder Kathy Grant, certified under Pilates Master Trainer Ellie Herman, trained with Irene Dowd and Lynn Martin (Kinesthetic Anatomy, Ideokinesis, & Breathing Coordination), Dynamic Alignment and Imagery with Eric Franklin, and Yoga and Qigong Relaxation with Master Frankie Hart, along with many others.

SENIOR TRAINER - Kit Bihun is a writer, designer and movement professional based in Brooklyn, NY. She earned her M.A in Design Studies from Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design as well as a B.A in Visual Arts & Theater from George Mason University. She practiced Pilates for over ten years before transitioning to teaching full time in 2015. Kit is certified in Pilates through Core Pilates NYC and Ellie Herman Pilates as well as Personal Training and bodyART.
SENIOR TRAINER - Simona was born and raised in Italy and studied both classical and modern dance at the Balletto di Renato Greco in Rome. She began performing professionally on Italian live TV for RAI UNO and MEDIASET. Her theatre performances include Dance with Raffaele Paganini and Salvatore Dali with the Pierre Cardin dance company in Paris. She began performing with MOMIX dance company in 2005 as Co-Creator, Dance Captain and soloist for Sunflower Moon and Bothanica, touring the US, Europe, Australia and South America. Currently Simona is in teacher’s training studying to become a certified Pilates instructor with Ellie Herman. Her most rewarding and challenging role is being a mother of her 2 year old son, Noah.
SENIOR TRAINER - Kelly Morrisette is a North Carolina native and a lifelong mover with a background in classical ballet. She is a graduate of UNC Greensboro where she studied mathematics and French. Upon moving to NYC she pursued an interest in Pilates as a way to get back in shape, and found that it changed her not only physically but her whole outlook on life. After a few years, she decided to deepen and expand her knowledge of the practice and received certification from Ellie Herman Studios. An analytic thinker, Kelly applies logic and mindfulness to her approach as a Pilates instructor. She has an intrinsic knowledge of the body and movement that allows her to explain the mind-body connection to her clients. Giving those she works with a new found functionality by feeling stronger and empowered, is what Kelly strives to achieve with each session.
SENIOR TRAINER - Aimee Plauche is a movement teacher and choreographer originally from Liburn, GA. She holds a BFA in Dance from Florida State University, received her Pilates training from Ellie Herman, and is certified in GYROKINESIS®. She is constantly inspired by the ability of Pilates and movement to heal the body and transform lives. An aspiring physical therapist and a bit of an anatomy nerd, Aimee has focused her continuing studies on anatomy and injury rehabilitation protocols, through courses including Experiential Anatomy with Joanna Nobbe and FAMI with Kinected. She infuses her sessions with precise instruction, fun imagery, and her own love of movement. While not teaching, Aimee can be found creating dance-theater with her company, Aimee Plauche & Performers.
SENIOR TRAINER - Celine Syslo received her BFA in Dance Performance on scholarship from Arizona State University in 2010. Shortly after graduating, she moved to New York City to pursue her career in movement. She has had the privilege of working with a number of local artists and is currently a company member of Suzanne Behars Dance. Celine was introduced to Pilates in college where she studied under Virgina Nicholas of Moving Breath Pilates in Tempe. Celine has completed her certification training through Ellie Herman and looks forward to sharing her love of movement through teaching.
CERTIFIED TRAINER - Cait began practicing Pilates nearly 20 years ago while recovering from a series of reconstructive orthopedic surgeries; experiences that continue to challenge and deepen her understanding of herself and the human body. A lifelong dancer, marathoner, and fitness junkie, Cait is driven by her passion for the intersectional relationship between functional movement and athletic performance. A Certified Pilates Teacher trained by Ellie Herman, Cait endeavors to fortify and embolden her clients’ innate strength through the Pilates method and the profound truth of body positivity.
CERTIFIED TRAINER - Raised in Texas, Tiffany moved to New York to attend NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts for acting, where she received her BFA. She was introduced to Pilates in 2008 when a friend was going through Ellie Herman’s teacher training and needed a body on which to practice. It was love at first neutral spine. As her practice began to inform and improve her day to day functionality, Tiffany realized that Pilates had become an invaluable necessity and was inspired to become a teacher herself. She is thrilled to be teaching classes and private sessions at Ellie Herman Pilates.
CERTIFIED TRAINER - Hailing from North Carolina, Brittany received early dance training at Northwest School of the Arts and Open Door Studios. While working in New York as a professional dancer, she discovered Ellie Herman Pilates and the amazing benefits that can be gained from the Pilates methodology. During times of injury, Brittany has regained strength and confidence through Pilates. Her love of movement translates to her teaching and she is excited to share the Pilates method with her clients.
CERTIFIED TRAINER - Lenny grew up outside of Boston and was never aware of Pilates until a roommate recommended it for back and core strength. After that first class, Lenny regularly took Mat classes twice a week for five years straight before discovering the Reformer. His passion for the wellness and energy that Pilates brought to him inspired the desire to become a teacher.
After years of trainings and moving to New York, Lenny received his comprehensive certification through Balanced Body University, became a Pilates Method Alliance® Certified Pilates Teacher, and is training as a Core Align® instructor. His favorite piece of equipment is the Mat, but he honors the healing, wellness, and alignment feedback and benefits that all the equipment provides. He is continually taking trainings, observing and thinking of ways to bring challenging, successful and invigorating workouts to all his clients. Specific trainings include work with osteoporosis, rotational sports and scoliosis. In his classes you will receive the utmost of attention, and find encouragement and support to help you attain your goals whether it be train for dance, improve your golf game, or among others, find balance and strength.
CERTIFIED TRAINER - Hannah is originally from Pittsburgh, PA, where she received her early dance training with the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School. She then went on to graduate summa cum laude from Fordham University & The Ailey School with a BFA in Dance and Art History. Faced at a young age with potentially career-ending injuries, she turned to Pilates as her daily workout and rehabilitation. Currently working as a professional dancer in NYC, Hannah has completed her comprehensive certification with Pilates Master Teacher Ellie Herman to share the Method and its benefits with others!
