Melanie Carminati, PT, DPT, GTS, PMA-CPT

Dr. Melanie Carminati is a licensed Physical Therapist in the state of New York with a specialization in Pilates Rehabilitation, dance medicine, women’s health, and manual therapy. She is the Founder of Inspira Physical Therapy in Brooklyn.

Dr. Carminati received her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Drexel University. She completed her graduate Physical Therapy internship at Polestar Physical Therapy & Pilates Center of Miami under Brent Anderson & Kathleen Bower. Dr. Carminati has interned with the Miami City Ballet, completes annual dance injury prevention screenings for students in the Ailey School-Fordham University dance program, contributes to ongoing dance medicine research

Dr. Carminati is a PMA-Certified Pilates Teacher, Polestar Pilates Practitioner, and holds multiple Power Pilates Certifications. Dr. Carminati is also a Graston Technique Specialist and incorporates hands-on manual therapy techniques including functional manual therapy, visceral manipulation, and orthopedic manipulations with her patients. All Physical Therapy treatments are comprehensive incorporating individualized therapeutic exercises, movement re-education, and hands-on therapy. Pilates based mat and equipment exercises are incorporated as a form of movement re-education for rehabilitation from current injury and future injury prevention. She has had great success with rehabilitation of all musculoskeletal conditions with incorporation of Pilates Rehabilitation.

She teaches Pilates mat group classes and private lessons at Inspira Physical Therapy. These Pilates wellness options are ideal for individuals wanting to improve their overall quality of life and fitness. Pilates classes/private lessons are also a safe option for physical therapy patients seeking a safe exercise maintenance program before and after being discharged from physical therapy.

Dr. Carminati was on Performing Arts Scholarship for music and dance at Drexel University. She has extensive ballet, jazz, modern and salsa dance training. Dr. Carminati has danced with multiple Philadelphia area choreographers, completed a Limon reconstruction for the Centennial celebration, and had the opportunity to perform at the Tropicana in Atlantic City.
