Ellie believes that Pilates education begins with an understanding of anatomy, kinesiology, posture, and bio-mechanics.
From the first hour of working with a client, a Pilates instructor should be analyzing and actively involved in corrective exercise not just going through a Pilates protocol. Her students develop a critical eye for technique and exit her program fluent in the language of movement.
Students exit the program prepared to sit for the Pilates Method Alliance exam.
Apprentice teaching hours: After completing the student teaching hours, students can audition to become an Apprentice Teacher at Ellie Herman Pilates (based on availability) or at any fully equipped Pilates studio. The studio will also help you build clientele by scheduling clients for you when you're ready.
In order to ensure that students are prepared, we think it is important that students wait to take their practical and written tests until they have completed all of their requirements (instruction, observation, self-practice, and teaching hours) outline in the modules and/or full certification program. Written test: Test will cover the Pilates repertoire specific to the modules in which you are seeking certification, as well as some anatomy and kinesiology.
