Ellie Herman

Ellie has been teaching Pilates for twenty years. She is an internationally recognized Pilates Teacher and author of eight Pilates books, including Pilates for Dummies. Pilates Tools for Special Populations

Denise was certified in Pilates instruction &  Standing Pilates Instruction with the Physical Mind Institute, and with Balanced Body University. She has studied very closely with Doris Pasteleur Hall and Lesley Powell, CMA, while continuing her education with Irene Dowd, Eric Franklin, and Tom Myers.  Denise has danced professionally with the Pennsylvania Ballet, Kansas City Ballet, Metropolitan Opera Ballet, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, and the New Chamber Ballet.  Currently, Denise is earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology at City University of New York.

Anatomy in Clay® - Brooklyn

Doris Pasteleur Hall is an internationally known Pilates teacher who began studying in the 1970’s with Alan Herdman famed for opening the first Pilates Studio in Britain. Doris came to New York to study with Romana Kryszanowska and then Carola Trier, who became her mentor. Doris most recently has been leading Teacher Training programs and Professional Workshops at New York’s Movements Afoot and Japan’s Pilates Movements Space, creating workshops that balance anatomy, observation, cueing and hands-on work.

Rehabilitation, Muscle testing & The Work Of Janda - Oakland

Lizz Roman, a professional dancer, was initially introduced to Pilates in 1986. She has had extensive training with Jayne Edwards in neuromuscular reeducation, and has integrated Janda’s program of progressive balance and proprioceptive challenges to improve overall body posture, muscle balance, joint stability and speed of muscle contraction into her own approach to Pilates rehab.

Devona has been teaching Pilates since 2000. She is familiar with a wide variety of styles of Pilates, from the original choreography to rehabilitation.  Her focus in Pilates is to help clients move with better body efficiency, and fitness.  She can easily adjust to the learning styles, and personal goals of clients, creating work outs with a focus on stress relief and relaxation, or a driving brisk workout, and any where in between.  Devona has a real talent for pinpointing what creates an imbalance in the body and giving the client what they need to create balance, helping the client to understand how their body works along the way.
